About Us
Then...
Katie has been riding horses her whole life, and has been actively training for about 21 years. She spent the first 14 years of her life in southeastern Montana, before moving to southern Colorado. She started out riding Quarter Horses and Mustangs. At a young age, she helped train family owned young horses.
Her interest in Thoroughbreds began when she was introduced to them in 2000. Her family took an AQHA mare to breed to a TB stallion in ND. Katie bought her first 3/4 TB as a 2 year old. He went on to become an all round 4-H and open show horse, winning many top awards in both English and Western, at the local level. A few years later, she bought her first OTTB. This horse also competed in 4 –H classes, as well as Dressage, Eventing and open shows. He was followed by two more OTTBs as project horses. These two were trained for dressage, jumping, trail riding, and western. All the horses Katie trains get a basic foundation in classical dressage. Katie took a Thoroughbred mare to the Retired Racehorse Makeover in 2015. (Check out the lesson/training page for more info on that). Katie is now focused on Eventing and Working Equitation, with cross training to keep the horses well rounded.
In her spare time, Katie does photography as a hobby. Check out equine and other photography at Dragon Fly Equine Photography.
Kay has been training horses for over 40 years in various disciplines. She started out with learning different ways to start young horses. After riding with various people and learning from the early natural horsemanship trainers, she developed a quiet, slow way to educate young horses that would give them a solid foundation without pushing them too fast. They develop into solid all-round horses suitable for anything. Kay is now focusing mostly on Working Equitation, which combines her favorite disciplines of trail obstacles and dressage. She still helps with the young horses and giving lots of excellent, experienced, advice in their training!

Now...
After training horses for years and bringing along some off track Thoroughbreds, Kay and Katie have decided to expand into raising Iberian Sport Horses. They have spent time researching and figuring out which TB bloodlines are ideal in sport horses, that have good minds, conformation, feet, and quality, uphill, athletic ability. The mare herd now consists of a few outstanding TB mares. Some are proven, some are young and just starting their career. After being introduced to Andalusians at least 15 years ago, and slowly coming around to becoming more interested in them, they raised their first Iberian Sport Horses (Mister Chaval Krews and Kefirs Sovereign Victoire). That was the final push into the Iberian world. After a lot of research, a Lusitano filly was added to the herd. The last step into having a breeding operation was made fall of 2021 when Plutao D'Noble was purchased from Casa Do Noble Lusitanos to be the herd stallion.
